Rowe Scores Twice to Defeat the San Jose Earthquakes

The New England Revolution pleasantly surprised fans by recording their first victory of the season last Saturday. They have defeated the San Jose Earthquakes by 2-1 at the Gillette Stadium. Both goals from the Revs were scored by Kelyn Rowe while the team entered the game with zero goals on their counter out of the first three games that they had played this year.

Rowe had already scored both goals right before halftime which provided the Revs with a 2-0 lead by the 45th minute. The first goal was scored at the 21st minutes. Daigo Kobayashi was able to intercept a pass from Shaun Francis and sent the ball forward to Lee Nguyen, a right winger. Nguyen then made a pass to Rowe who was located at the edge of the area. The right foot shot from Rowe passed Francis and went past David Bingham position at the goalpost, thus bring the score at 1-0 for the Revs.

Rowe almost scored again at the 35th minute but the ball was palmed away by Bingham right before it went past the line. Two minutes later, however, Rowe seized the opportunity to score again intercepting a ball right after Darrius Barnes had headed a free kick from Chris Tierney. This brought the score to 2-0.

The San Jose Earthquakes managed to get a goal in by the 62nd minute. This was scored by Chris Wondolowski during a penalty kick as Scott Caldwell was called in for foul on Clarence Goodson. This resulted in the score being 2-1 and remaining that way until the end of the game.
